Bamboo Land
The district "Barsha Heights" in the middle of Dubai is mostly used as office, hotel or retail area. The social life is missing on the site.
Therefore I propose to create an area center where people can do social activities, workshops, co-working and so much more. It builds connections between the lonely skyscrapers. The material could be bamboo or palm leaves like for the traditional "Arish Houses". It ensures that new buildings can emerge.
The platforms were an idea from the beginning because the site has an very vertikal hierarchy and we wont to form more horizontal levels to break the hierarchy. On the platforms is space for new houses of the lower-income class. Thus will be the social inequality mixed up. By adding lights to the bamboo scaffolding the atmosphere becomes more friendly, comfortable and safe. Both gathering places and private areas will arise.
New people will move to the social and family friendly district.
Finally the most important change will be to plant bamboo on the facades of the buildings.It will arrange more greenery and contribute for more private space. The special thing about the natural facade is the natural lightning and it is required to maintain the plant.
