“What is a city? People make a city “
It is a place where
people live with a series of accommodations like businesses, housing and
working places. It also needs to have streets and sidewalks and public
transport like buses, subway etc. Also, the territorial size and amount of
population is important. According to the city metric it must have a minimum
population of 300,000. It also needs to have a structured system of governance
as well as a good management of resources.
Cities often almost always poses a diverse population with residents
from different countries or cities living there. Cites almost always also have
a big economic base because of the big population and purchasing power that is
established there.
Cities on the other
hand are evolving on a rapid pace, infrastructure and connectivity is
improving. This concept is called “smart
cities” one example of this that the city streets can be filled with sensors
that can track data both on the roads and through citizens’ cars and
smartphones in order to be able to track the traffic flow giving the population
a better life.
In conclusion what
really makes a city is the people living in it, without the people there
wouldn’t be a big economic, there wouldn’t be businesses or working spaces. It
is also the people that make a city great, respecting the people and the city
itself, having good citizen habits, like recycling, walking instead of using
car, not throwing trash in the streets etc. The city is the people living in
it, without the people there wouldn’t be a city.
I enjoy the video. It will be interesting to go deep with the idea of crisis and how it create en identity.
