A CITY FOR A MOSQUITO

What is the city today?

For people the city is the stage. Decoration for our lives.

These decorations are mostly 2-dimensional, we go along the streets, see the facades, closed doors, fences, we only have keys of very few doors, we only can enter some of the shops on the ground floor during a few hours a day, but most of the space is private. Just think for a second, we build cities for people but we can access maybe less than 1% of constructed square meters.

The city is a huge private space.

Is it true for everyone? Is there someone for whom the city becomes 3-dimensional?

Birds are looking for any horizontal surface to seat, those surfaces are located on the different levels of each street, on any building. For birds the city becomes more accessible and diverse but most of the inside spaces are still inaccessible for them.

For birds the city is all of the horizontal surfaces.

Rats occupy both the inside and outside of the buildings, closest to the ground level spaces, pipes, abandoned places.

For rats the city is the absence of people.

Cockroaches have even more accessibility to the city. They could be everywhere, mostly prefer kitchens, they are common in every climate, in every country.

For cockroaches the city is the kitchen.

The animal for whom the city is 100% accessible is a mosquito. It overcomes any possible protection, access any possible space, is free to move in any direction. The city for the mosquito is 3-dimensional, it is not a decoration anymore. That is why...

The city is a space constructed for a mosquito.
