MANIFESTO - NATALIA LOZANO
When designing architecture, the more elements we address the better.
Architecture is made to provide shelter and comfort. Or maybe to enhance
your senses and open your mind to new experiences?
In this course I’ve been learning not to take statements for certain and
to doubt things you thought to be absolute. Medieval castles to skyscrapers.
Traditional versus radical. Past and present times. Alicante and Dubai. These contrasts
and oppositions in the architectural world have helped me see how different
your point of view can be from another person’s. And also how important the
context is. Location, weather, culture and time can completely change the
perspective. An old medieval castle in the Mediterranean coast can become a space for relaxation and
mindfulness in the present. Where one would want to escape an aggressive environment,
another person can find inspiration
to improve. Being able to visit the environment of your future architecture project
is really important, because architecture is meant to be experienced with your
five senses, personally.
I’ve also learned about the relevance of the journey. Often times we
forget the dynamism that architecture is tied to. From the moment it starts
being an idea in the mind of the architect, it will never stop evolving.
